| In The Spotlight! On this page you will find the lastest Center Stage happenings: Center Stage is proud to provide quality dance instruction in Western North Carolina for 30 years. We have been voted the area's #1 Dance Studio, the #1 place for Birthday parties, and the #1 place for Summer Camp by the WNC Parent Magazine! Thank you! Why Dance? Ask almost any 3 year old girl what she wants to be when she grows up and she’ll tell you ”I want to be a ballerina.” Dancers dance because they love dancing. The value of dance is far greater than the awards, trophies, or honors. Whether it be Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, or Hip Hop, dance develops an individual sense of confidence as students experience the joy of physical activity while having fun. You can see it in the way a dancer walks, and stands with grace and poise. In the youngest students, dance inspires creativity, develops a sense of musicality, and teaches specific movements that increase gross motor skills. In the older student, dance enhances time management skills, cooperation, discipline, and art appreciation. Self expression through the art of dance can release stress and tension, and can help students cope with problems while building greater self esteem. As dance educators, Center Stage not only strives to teach the newest steps, and correct technique, but to instill self confidence and life lessons that will influence the student to be the best they can be. To be a dancer is incredible, that is why we dance. Thank you for dancing at Center Stage! Michele Lee Director Summer at Center Stage: Center Stage is offering many exciting summer camps! Summer Dance Intensive: We are proud to announce the Terpsicorp Summer Dance Intensive right here at Center Stage this summer! If your child has not been to a summer intensive before, here are some good reasons to consider. Whether they see dance as a potential career or just enjoy it as a hobby, the fact is that like anything else that requires strength and technical ability, students need to train on a regular basis in order to improve. Long periods of off time not only do not strengthen a student’s skills, but diminish them. Summer intensives are just that, intense. They require a higher level of focus and commitment and are invaluable for honing life skills as well as dance skills. Students come back to the new school year with greater technical skills, a stronger focus, and are motivated and inspired to work harder. The sense of accomplishment they have when they start back in the fall able to show off their new skills is invaluable.
